Troy Music often became a secondary matter during Friday night's concert of the Albany Symphony's Dogs of Desire in the EMPAC concert Hall. The words from the stage just kept coming. This time I'm not complaining about the ever present curtain speeches, which were relatively short. Instead, four out of the five pieces (all world premieres) contained generous speeches about women's rights, civil rights and gay rights. The centennial of the 19th amendment and the 50th anniversary of Stonewall have inspired a full festival of such consciousness raising. Those are worthy causes to be sure, but ...
